Laitbeaux’s Visions
The Symbology of
Earthworms
Earthworms Transform. Transformers, purifiers, they transform the earth and it becomes soil for other bacteria. They’re there to eat thru the dirt, the debris, the dust, and what remains is one pure unified soil. They’re transmutation experts, professional clearers, almost in an animism shamanic way. Living beings whose contribution is to clear the neutral, chaotic, dirty and already clean energy and unify it, making it pure and new.
The Symbology of
Spiders
Spiders transport. They don’t go far, stay in close places, pause, look and observe. There’s a lot of nuance to be observed when looking thru spiders. They tend to stay in one place. The dream-weaving time spiders run around and jump over altars—flowers—taking energy, images, colors, textures, when Laitbeaux sees these things, she can transmute these pictures or dreams thru the spiders. They’re the vision-bringers, they enhance our dreams. They bring pretty pictures. Laitbeaux sees things in unique perspectives and vantage points. Not as 2 or 1 dimensional as we see a spider or worm or fungus…everything she looks at is like she is on some great drugs. A fungus flower is dreamy. Spiders take these visions into our dreams, arguably it would be a tale of lore that all of our good dreams come from Laitbeaux because she sees it through spiders, and they are somehow real and true because of this.
Stories from the Underworld
Laitbeaux’s Visions
Laitbeaux is an entity that travels through earthworms.
She can travel anywhere on the planet.
Consumed and transformed earthworms, she can manifest and jump inside spiders, viewing the world through their eyes.

ARTIST STATEMENT
Spiders and worms are inciting and interesting. I feel comforted by their images and think that somehow, the practice of photographing bugs brings me closer to the earth and deeper into myself.
I hope that I can show different perspectives of these critters to engage with people on different levels. I’d like people to feel akin to these creatures, not in an anthropomorphic way, but in an empathic way, recognizing that they take up space, that they’re also very diminutive, and can have personalities—we don’t know that they don’t or do.
